Personal History Johnny was born in 2355 to Starfleet Intelligence officers. While they hoped that he would follow in their footsteps, they always supported all of his decisions.

Johnny was named after his distant ancestor, John Walker whose name is given to the Scottish Whiskey. As a hobby, he keeps up on various styles of distilling alcohol and generally finds a way to keep his namesake alive by distilling his own brand of whiskey wherever he is posted.

Growing up, Johnny's parents would give him bits and pieces of their intelligence reports and encourage him to work out who the main parties were and what recommendations he would make. As he grew older, his abilities at seeing both sides of every case and making recommendations on what to be done improved to the point his parents came to him for advice on their cases.

Johnny was also very close with his uncle Jason and aunt Amanda, both of whom served in the Marine Corps.

His Uncle Jason was the Marine CO onboard the USS Faragut and, while always carrying himself with a Marine's stiff back, he had a soft spot for his only nephew. Whenever the Faragut was near where Johnny's parents were stationed, it would detour to pick young Johnny up. Part of his time onboard the Faragut, Johnny would run through drills and take full advantage of their training facilities, both for their workout facilities and phaser range. It was during these times that Johnny became health conscious and maintain a regular workout. He was an expert marksman with all types of phasers.

Johnny's Aunt Amanda was a group commander for the Faragut's delta wing. Aunt Amanda taught Johnny how to fly all of the Marine ships that were under her command and by the time he was old enough to join Starfleet, he was an expert pilot.

Johnny always knew he wanted to earn a commission, but he was torn between Starfleet and the Marine Corps. He excelled in the intelligence, marine and fighter wing aptitude tests on the pre-entrance exam as he knew he would, but he also showed an aptitude in Engineering. He knew what he had to offer in intelligence and the marine corps, however he was drawn to Engineering since he always enjoyed working with his hands.

Johnny’s posting to the USS Alabama was a dream come true. The Nebula Class ship gave him the chance to learn the standard engineering needs of a starship, but also the additional headaches that the mission POD had to offer. His ability to repair on the fly was greatly enhanced due to this.

Lieutenant Greg Brown, the Chief Engineer on the Alabama, was a great mentor, even though he was only a year older than Johnny. He encouraged him throughout the 10 years they worked together. When the Chief Engineer position on the Massachusetts opened up, Lt. Brown pulled Johnny aside and recommended that Johnny take the opportunity to further his career.

The USS Massachusetts was another Nebula Class ship that put his experience on the Alabama to good use. He had become quite adept at switching out the mission PODS and could swap them out in half the time other crews would take for the same POD, After 3 years on the Massachusetts, he felt he’d learned all he could on Nebula Class’ and transferred to Starfleet Headquarters so that he could open his skill base to research and development.
